I have often been asked, “Do you think that the events of the last four months have a prophetic significance?” And my answer is – “Yes – Absolutely!” The Bible has much to say about what we are seeing and hearing and experiencing in these days.

In 2 Timothy 3, for instance, there is a very specific prophecy concerning conditions in the last days. It says, “This know, also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.”

Wow! What a scenario! Did you know that that’s the way it was going to be? Sounds like a description of our times, doesn’t it?! “This know.”

The word for know here is the Greek word ginosko that means “knowing with understanding and comprehension.” In other words, you know what is happening because you comprehend what it means.

Well, the Bible is filled with information concerning the last days, and God says, He wants you to know about it. Now this verb “know” is in the imperative mood, which means it not an option. God is not suggesting that we might want to think about this someday. God is using the highlighter here to make it stand out. You had better know this stuff! It’s important information.

Look. Only God knows what the year ahead will bring. But if you know God’s Word, you will at least have a heads up on what to expect. “This know,… that in the last days perilous times shall come.”

Hey – It’s a good thing to know what the Bible says about the future. Your life may depend on it. ■
