Dr. Dan Hayden •

Are we living in the “Last Days”? Well, many Bible teachers think so. This is the first day of the second year of the new millennium – and one thing you can say for sure is that we’re closer to the Last Days than we’ve ever been before.

In the last months of 2001 there was an apocalyptic feel to the unprecedented evil we were seeing in the world. So, are we in the “Last Days”? The Bible does, in fact, have a lot to say about those days, and we may be closer than we think.

In 2 Timothy 3:1, we read, “This know, also, that in the last days perilous times shall come”. Than Paul goes on to describe what people will be like in those days, and it reads a whole lot like the way people are today.

The term “last days” actually can refer to a couple of things in the Bible. In one sense, the entire Church Age is the “last days.” That span of time between our Lord’s first coming and His second coming is considered by the Bible as the “last days”. But in another sense, there are the Last Days of the last days, and this is the way we generally think of this term.
Well, as we think about the future – what should we anticipate in the year ahead?

Have you ever watched a NASCAR race? The announcer says, “Gentlemen, start your engines,” and the drivers all begin to file out behind the pace car. It takes several laps for all of the cars to get into position. Then the pace car pulls off and the green flag drops, and the race has begun.

Well, as far as prophecy is concerned, I think we’re on the pace laps. Everything is jockeying into position—and that’s what we’re seeing today. But before you know it, the green flag will drop and we will officially be in the Last Days of the last days. Maybe even this year…

Say – Are you ready for the Last Days? Knowing Christ as your Savior is the only way to do that. ■
