Dr. Dan Hayden •

I’m amazed at how complex our society has become, but how would you like to have the best lawyer, the best physician, and the best financial planner on your side – to cut through all that complexity? Well, I’m going to tell you how that can happen. It’s a deal you won’t want to miss!

In Psalm 23 David said, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want…” Now, that’s amazing! A shepherd is someone who takes care of the sheep and makes sure they have everything they need. Then the sheep can do whatever sheep do, because they know the shepherd is there for them. Well, when David said “The Lord is my shepherd,” he actually said that the Creator of the Universe was taking care of his needs.

The word “Lord” here is the Hebrew word Jehovah. Now this word is actually built off of the Hebrew verb “to be.” When God said to Moses “My name is ‘I AM’,” he used the word, Yehovah (which we have come to know as Jehovah). Jehovah means “to be; to exist.”

In other words, He’s always there. He’s present in every situation. He never sleeps, and He never gets tired. He’s Jehovah – the Great “I AM.”

Now, think about it. David says that Jehovah is our shepherd. That’s right – “Jehovah.” The Great God of the Universe who is always there in every situation, is there for you! He’s there to shepherd your life – to make sure you have everything you need – to give you wisdom for every situation – to comfort you in times of sorrow – to protect you from those who would hurt you – to lead you and guide you along life’s road – to provide goodness and mercy for all the days of your life.

So, what do you think? Have you ever heard of anything so wonderful? “Jehovah is my shepherd.” Now that’s something to get excited about!

Hey – In order for Jehovah to be your shepherd, He must first be your Savior. Think about it!
