Dr. Dan Hayden •

Are you saved? “Saved from what?” you may ask. Well, all sinners are condemned to hell forever – that’s what the Bible says. But, the good news is that you can be saved from all of that. So let me ask you again, are you saved?

To be saved from certain death is an awesome experience. My brother was seriously wounded in Vietnam, but the field medical unit to which he was taken was crowded with other wounded soldiers as well. When the surgeon examined his wounds, he concluded that Phil could not be saved – so he pushed him aside and said, “Next!” But a young doctor who had just arrived from the States was observing the situation and he was moved by the fact that Phil was simply pushed aside to die. So he said, “Do you mind if I try?” He began working on Phil and saved his life. Today my brother is alive and well, but he will never forget the young doctor in Vietnam who saved him from certain death.

Well, all of us face certain death as well. We face eternal death, separation from God forever because of our sin. But, there is good news. In Romans 10:9 it says,
“that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

The word saved means to keep from harm, to rescue from danger, and here this verb is in the passive voice which means it is something that God does for us. It isn’t something we can do for ourselves.

The good news is God will rescue you from eternal death and preserve you from the judgment to come, if you will simply receive Jesus Christ as your Savior. Like the young doctor in Vietnam when everyone else pushes you aside, Jesus will save you.

So let me ask you again, are you saved? Just come to Jesus and He will save you.
