To what length would you go to express your love for someone?

In Ephesians 3:18, we are encouraged by Paul to know something of the length of love. The Bible says “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son…” That’s the length He was willing to go to express His love for you.

A number of years ago, the Mansanto Pavilion at Disney World featured a 360-degree circle vision of a trip around the world. Included was a visit to India, and the great Taj Mahal—a beautiful mausoleum built by the Mogul Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Arjumand Banu Begum, who died giving birth to their child after nineteen years of marriage. As the camera panned the palace, the narrator said, “Never has love been more beautifully expressed.” At that moment, I wanted to shout, “WRONG!”—and have the camera move through the narrow streets of ancient Jerusalem out to a place called Calvary, and then zoom in on the distorted figure of Jesus, the Son of God, dying on a cross for our sins. And then, have the narrator say, “There – there, never has love been more beautifully expressed!” That was the greatest length anyone has ever gone to demonstrate their love—and God did it for you. The length of love.

Think about it—God went the distance in His love for you.
