There is such a thing as being overqualified. You not only meet the requirements – you far surpass them. Well, God is certainly overqualified to help you with your problems.

Tony Dungee is the coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team. He is a brilliant strategist with a wealth of experience in the NFL. Now suppose he offered to help coach the local little league team. Do you think he would be qualified? Absolutely! He would be overqualified!

Well, in a far greater sense, that’s how it is with God. Psalm 46 begins with the words, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble…” Then at the end of the Psalm, God says, “Be still and know that I am God.”

In other words, God has offered to help us in our time of trouble. So, what He wants us to do is to back off, shut up, sit still, and to simply realize that He is more than qualified to do the job. Release it to Him and quit worrying!

There are many names for God in the Bible, but the one used here is “Elohim” – the God of Creation. In Genesis 1:1 it says, “In the beginning ‘Elohim’ created the heavens and the earth.” Wow! That’s pretty impressive! “Elohim” simply said, “Let there be…” and the universe appeared! The earth with all of its wonders came into being…

Now our problems seem so big to us, don’t they? They overwhelm us and cause us to be discouraged—sometimes, even depressed. But what do you think God thinks about our problems? Well, I can tell you – they are no match for Him! He is not only qualified – He is super-qualified! So, I tell you what – why don’t you be still and remember that “Elohim” is your “refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Say – Why don’t you stop right now and thank the Lord that He is there for you in whatever you are facing!
