The elite fighting force of King David’s army was known as mighty men of valor. They were superheroes and accomplished mighty deeds, but there is only one that is all mighty and that is God Almighty.

As the Apostle John described the second coming of Christ in his opening verses of the book of Revelation, he included the words of Jesus that encapsulate the awesome nature of that event. After saying, Behold, He is coming with the clouds and every eye shall see Him. He went on to write the words of Jesus when he said in Revelation 1:8,

I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.

Now, the last word Jesus used to describe himself on this occasion was the word Almighty. The word Almighty is the Greek word for might or strength, with the prefix all on the front of the word. So the Greek word is just like our English word, it is almighty. There is no limit to his might or strength, He is omnipotent.

At the time of Jesus’ coming, the whole world will be gathered in opposition to Him. The kings of the earth will have amassed their armies against Him, world leaders will be defiant and resistive, but just one word from Jesus’ mouth will decimate them all. Revelation 19:15 says, and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword that with it he should smite the nations.

You see, Almighty Jesus will overwhelm their resistance for even the slightest word from his mouth will exceed the combined strength of the armies of the world. Jesus said, I am Almighty. He is the God of heaven come to earth. Now you know the real meaning of the word.

Hey, you want to be on the right side in this fight, for only in Jesus is there salvation and victory!
